The Boy Scouts of America currently operates 4 National High Adventure Bases. The Muskingum Valley Council occasionally offers Treks to these bases as a Council Contingent, or, a Troop, Team, or Crew may choose to make reservations (usually two years out) and plan their own trip. The Summit Bechtel Reserve Located in West Virginia, it is now the permanent home to the National Scout Jamboree, and also weekly high adventure activities such as whitewater rafting, rock climbing & repelling, extreme mountain biking, and skateboarding.
Philmont Scout Ranch Located near Cimarron, New Mexico, Philmont Scout Ranch offers unique high adventure activities revolving around backpacking in the Sangre De Cristo Mountains. Trips can be one week long or more, depending on trek selection. Also available, are OA Trail Crew, and the Philmont Training Center. Our Council will be hosting a Philmont Contingent in 2016. Florida Sea Base Located in Key West, Sea Base is a wonderful experience of sailing, island adventure, swimming, snorkeling, and fishing; all depending on your choice of trek. Some unique training courses are also available here, as well as a unique OA trek program.
Northern Tier Centered out of Ely, Minnesota, Northern Tier offers unique canoeing and camping experiences such as Autumn Adventures, OKPIK Winter Adventures, and Wilderness Canoe Treks. A unique OA Trek is also available.
