"Around the World with Scouting"

Cub Scout Day Camps 2008

Which camp is YOUR pack attending?  See below for dates and locations.

"Around the World with Scouting” is the general theme for the 2008 Cub Scout Day Camps. Registrations should be collected by the Pack and turned in as a group. All registration must be turned in to the Council Service Center, not the Day Camp Directors.

Scouts who are registered for Day Camp by the camp deadline can attend for only $45.00. This includes a Day Camp T-shirt and all program and craft materials.  T-shirts for adults. tagalongs, or additional shirts for scouts may be pre-ordered at the time your pack's registrations are turned in for an additional $8.00 per shirt ($10 for sizes XL and larger).

Each Day Camp has a registration deadline approximately four weeks before the first day of camp (see below for exact dates).  Any Scouts who register after the deadline but before the first day of camp will pay an additional $10 (for a total of $55.00). Scouts who wait until the first day of camp must pay an additional $15 (for a total of $60.00). Mailed registration must be postmarked by the deadline to receive the lowest fee.

There is no charge for adults attending as chaperones.  Non-Scout children of chaperones may attend for $1 per day.  Craft items, if available, may be purchased for an additional fee.

We encourage early registration because this  enables us to get an accurate attendance count so we can order the proper number of T-shirts and other program supplies. Ordering additional materials after the initial orders are placed creates an extra expense for the Day Camps. So, please register early!  Registration forms are available at the Council Service Center or may be downloaded by using the links below or on the "Forms" section of this website.

See the bottom of this page for the council’s refund policy.

What if our Pack is not planning to GO?

Some Packs call a time-out in the summer time.

If your Pack is not planning to participate in the council’s summer program, but your son is interested in attending, here is what you should do:

1. Talk with your Pack leadership. They may be under the false assumption that the Scouts and their parents are not interested in participating. Remind them that the promise of summer camp is one of the major reasons boys join Scouting. Volunteering as camp coordinator may help.

2. If the unit leadership is still not interested, talk to the other parents. Get a small group of interested Scouts together and participate, with parents taking turns as chaperones.

3. If you have trouble getting a group together from your Pack, contact other units in your area and see if they would mind  letting your son tag along. Make sure you volunteer to help. We can assist you in this step.

4. If all else fails, contact the council service center and ask for help. It is the council’s job to make sure every boy who wants to go to summer camp is given the opportunity.

Refund Policy

As a general rule, once fees are paid and a Scout has committed to come to a Muskingum Valley Council Summer Camp, those fees are not refundable if the Scout fails to attend camp.  Packs may, however, transfer the paid fees to cover another Scout .

The council understands that emergencies do sometimes arise, and through no fault of the Scout he may find himself unable to attend camp.

In these cases, refund requests should be submitted in writing to the council where they will be reviewed by a committee for consideration.

REFUND REQUESTS MUST BE SUBMITTED WITHIN 30 DAYS OF SESSION FOR CONSIDERATION.  NO REFUND REQUEST WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER AUGUST 31st.
