AUGUST 30 Update: We have had a slight delay as we negotiate the moving of a gas line that passes under the new storage building. We expect to have the gas line removed by mid sept and then construction will proceed.
On Tuesday, August 15th, the community gathered to help Scouts break ground on the expansion and renovation of the Scouting Resource Center in Zanesville. Cub Scout Carson Shockley, Eagle Scout Alex Pinson, and Venture Scout Julia Roberts each turned the first dirt, symbolizing the start of the construction. These three Scouts represent the thousands of young people who will benefit from Scouting over the next fifty years, thanks to this project.
The expansion and renovation is the last project of a five year capital campaign. Already, generous donors to the campaign have funded the construction of a S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) center, doubling the size of the dining hall, and construction of the Silver Beaver Village consisting of 5 cabins and a shower house. This final project will cost $1.2 million. A good portion of this has already been raised and we hope to raise the final $600,000 in the next 6 months.
