The Greater Western Reserve Council is offering a Wood Badge course in August of 2008. The Wood Badge training program is the premier advanced leadership training, open to ALL registered Scouters in the Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity and Venturing Programs. It highlights personal and unit level leadership development with team building and other useful skills. The course is held in attractive outdoor settings and some out-of-door skills will be taught and utilized. Wood Badge is a fun, challenging and inspirational Scouting experience. It emphasizes the following: of wine tasting events • A contemporary training program for "new volunteers" as well as veteran Scouters. • An advanced leadership development program for all scouting positions. • Participants and staff are drawn from Cub Scouting, Boy Scouting, Venturing, District and Council positions. • Maintains the spirit and traditions of the long history of Wood Badge courses. • Most of all – Simulating and Fun with Diversity of programs and individuals!
Who is eligible: ALL registered Scout leaders of any position. The course content benefits Cub Scout, Boy Scout, Varsity Scout and Venturing leaders as well as council and district leaders.
Pre-requisites: You must have completed New Leader Essential Training and the position specific basic training for your Scouting position. There is no minimum tenure requirement for your position.

Area 4 Program Conference
Jim Kern, Area 4 Program Chairman and Dale Holbrook, Area 4 Director, invite you to attend this year’s Area 4 Program Conference entitled “Countdown to 2010” (BSA 100th Anniversary). Perhaps you have already heard about this event, but here are the specifics:
WHERE: North Terrace Church of Christ, Zanesville, OH
WHEN: Saturday, October 25, 2008 Registration opens at 8:00 a.m. – Opening Ceremony at 9:00 a.m.
COST: $20.00 per person (payable at the door)
Advance registration helps us plan for course materials and refreshments for this popular event. You can either telephone Carol Trocewicz at the Area Director's office to register at (630) 983-6730 or you can register via e-mail at ctrocewi@netbsa.org. Please provide your name, council affiliation and your 2 morning session selections by number and time slot, along with your afternoon workshop choice. For example, A1 & B2, W4.
