Venturing & the Muskingum Valley Council VOA
Venturing is a youth development program of the Boy Scouts of America for young men and women who are 13 and have completed the eighth grade, or age 14 through 20 years of age. Venturing’s purpose is to provide positive experiences to help young people mature and to prepare them to become responsible and caring adults through Leadership, a youth-led program, and High Adventure activities and outings.
Venturing has a whole separate system of Awards and Advancements. The Venturing Program will be going through a change in May of 2014, to review these changes, view the Venturing Roadmap. Click HERE for the new Advancements and Requirements.
Crews can be Chartered just like any Pack, Troop, or Team. For more information on Program, click here.
Boy Scouts can join a Venturing Crew once they meet the age requirements. Once a Boy Scout earns his First Class Rank through a Troop, he may continue to advance through the Crew and reach Eagle by the age of 18 (following the Boy Scout Eagle requirements).
Councils have a VOA or Venturing Officers Association where youth from Crews within the Council are elected to serve in various positions to plan Venturing activities for the Council Venturing Program. Elections take place at the May VOA meeting, and Officers assume duties June 1st. VOA Officer Nomination Form
