Scout Executive Transition

After 28 years with the Boy Scouts of America, I will officially retire on January 31st of this year. I have had the pleasure to serve in Dayton, Springfield, Canton, Ashland and here in Zanesville. I have enjoyed every minute. Scouting has given me many incredible opportunities and Scouting values have shaped my life. I thank my Scout leaders when I was a youth and I thank the hundreds and thousands of Scouting leaders I have had the pleasure to work with throughout my career.

The Council Executive Board has assigned a Scout Executive selection committee of 12 individuals including board members and Scout leaders. This committee has met and developed a profile for the position. The National office has circulated that profile and is accepting resumes from interested Scouting professionals. Later in January the committee will review the applicants resumes and select several candidates to interview. Interviews will be conducted in February with an expected start date for the new Scout Executive of March 15th.

The Muskingum Valley Council continues to do an exceptional job shaping the lives of youth, and I will always be proud to have played some small role in the Council’s continued success. In the end, the success of the council has always been dependent upon the quality and commitment of the many volunteers who give their time, talent, and treasure. Scouting volunteers have had an incredible positive impact on my life, and each of you is having an incredible positive impact on the youth you are serving today. Thank you!
